Alex Olivier, Born in Wakefield 1993, raised in Hereford. I am a painter and drawer based in London.

Painting my written thoughts into a new language. I collect words and notes through journaling, there my process moves from contemplation to creation. I reflect on the attributes of each word, exploring its form, colour, and texture. The words that prompt each piece are transformed, resolved, and recast into new, abstract forms. Though the sentences become unreadable, hints of the words linger.

I draw on top of clean textured canvas, using its natural colour and uneven texture to contrast the bold shapes and tonal coloured language I paint. Written questions, answers and statements, I compose and process keenly into painted forms.

Over the past 9 years I have worked as a screen printer and fabric developer, honing my skills in both art and design. I co-direct Orto Print Studio, a creative textile screen printing business that primarily focuses on fashion but extends across various art forms. Building our client base and business from scratch.
